LG is the only manufacturer to sell both Passive Polarisation (with the LG LD920 ) and Active Shutter Full HD 3D TVs in the UK. The former may boast the cheapest 3D spex, but it’s the Active Shutter range which is getting the brand’s premier tech. This super-sized 55 inch model packs Full LED backlighting, a Wii-style Magic Motion remote control (plus a regular zapper for traditionalists) and some fiercely effective picture processing wizardry. So can it challenge the jaw-dropping Panasonic P50VT20 3D plasma or the eye-popping Samsung 9000 Series models?
In the 80s and 90s Sony dominated the portable media player market. Then Apple came along and released the iPod. Ever since Sony has been scrapping to keep pace and finally, after many years of denial, started building iPod compatible stereos, docks and bedside alarm clocks. So does the Sony’s NWZ-W252 Walkman even warrant a look? Fortunately, the day after I ran my iPod Shuffle through the washing machine, the NWZ-W252 showed up at my door. Everything needed to listen to the NWZ-W252 is contained directly in the headphones themselves, which includes all the necessary controls as well as a USB port for transferring and charging the device. Deathspank has been developed by Ron Gilbert, who developed The Secret of Monkey Island. Available for download via PlayStation Network or Xbox Live Arcade, you play a hack and slasher called DeathSpank One thing we need to say about DeathSpank is that, like World of Warcraft, there’s a lot of repetition. You hit something. You hit another thing. And another. And a fourth. A 64th, a 128th, a 512th. You have four weapons and a thousand million enemies, and you grind your way through them like some kind of cartoon extremist in the days before bombs. Why?
Sony’s Walkman brand may not have the same impact now as in its ’80s heyday, but the tech company has been banging out consistently good MP3 players for some years now. The Sony E Series Walkman offers more of the same, but with a few added gimmicks brought in to spice the range up. But competing in the same sphere as the iPod Nano , does it still have a place?
